Pawnee Grasslands - Colorado
The Pawnee Grasslands are a remnants of the plains grasslands that once covered all of eastern Colorado. This vast sweeping prairie is home to an incredible amount of wildlife. Burrowing owls are a common sight as are several species of raptors, who nest on these lands. Mammals like pronghorn, mule deer, coyotes, badgers and prairie dogs are all supported by this grassland ecosystem. It's hard not to stand out in the middle of a place like this on a beautiful sunny morning and not feel lucky.
