Bull Elk (Cervus canadensis) - Rocky Mountain National Park - Colorado
Aspen leaves begin to change color, the air gets colder, the high mountain peaks start getting their first dusting of snow and the mountain valleys are now filled with the haunting sound of the bugling elk. These massive bull elk, which just a few weeks ago were calm and relaxed high up in the mountains, are now crazed hulking beasts, ready to fight anything in its path. They are all looking for cows to add to their harem, but only the biggest bulls will win the right to mate.
